Streamlined VPN Registration Process by PTA Enhances Business Efficiency
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has simplified the Virtual Private Network (VPN) registration process to support uninterrupted business operations across the country. This initiative is particularly beneficial for software houses, call centres, freelancers, and foreign missions or embassies that rely on stable internet connectivity.
The PTA's updated VPN registration process, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT), the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), aims to optimize online security and access. Over 20,000 IPs have already been registered, reflecting the effectiveness of this streamlined procedure.
To ensure seamless and secure internet access, businesses are encouraged to register their VPNs via the dedicated portal at https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk/. The registration can now be completed through a unified window available on both the PTA and PSEB portals.
This move is designed to help businesses navigate new internet restrictions while maintaining secure online activities. However, there have been petitions against the recent installation of firewalls and the resultant slow internet speeds, which some argue may negatively impact the digital economy and citizens' fundamental rights.
The PTA's effort to streamline VPN registration underscores its commitment to supporting a robust and secure digital environment for businesses in Pakistan.
